The Guys

Drew Burkamper

Hey thanks for checking out our ministry!

My prayer is that this platform is used to glorify God, certainly not any of the four of us. We are nothing without Him, and we want to point to Jesus in all we do.

I have been a follower of Jesus for 25 years. That makes me the old man of the group and when I try to keep up with these guys in a workout my age shows. But I love the accountability, the fellowship, and these guys.

I have personally experienced bouts with mental health struggles, so my heart is tender towards men struggling through some of the same. I also have a huge heart for fatherhood. I have been a closet introvert (get it) and have generally tried to avoid “too much community”. But God has put it on my heart to join in the fight and also lean into these men, my brothers in Christ.

Scripture has been so alive in my life, it is hard to pin point one verse to share. But I will leave you with this… Ecclesiastes 4: 9&10:

Two are better than one, because they have good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

What’s Going on guys!?!

I just wanted to give you a little snapshot of my story so far - I’m a Marine veteran and also spent some time a s a private security contractor/ executive protection. Been married 13 years and blessed to be a father of three little mini-Me’s. I found Jesus in the spring of 2022 and have been a follower ever since! A passion of mine is bringing awareness to and helping to try to reduce the veteran suicide rate. The statistic of 22 a day is 22 too many. As a combat veteran who has done the “isolation” and suppressing of those battles for far too long, I would like to say that a solid community of brothers and above all Christ has helped in the deepest and darkest valleys. If there was a message I would want to convey from this ministry it’s that we are never alone, Jesus is with us in the highs and lows. Finding a good group of comrades and counselors is key for growth and accountability. I’d like to share this scripture form Luke 11:10  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

What’s going on y’all!? Thanks for checking out our website! I love these guys and am super excited to see what God has in store for us here at Between Red Ministries as well as how He is going to use this ministry to reach other men.

I have been happily married for 5 years and God has blessed us with two beautiful children. I was baptized on June 3rd, 2018 so I’ve been following Jesus for a little over 5 years now. I am a member of First Baptist Church here in Muscatine, IA. I am currently involved in heading up the Men’s Ministry there and also just started going through Elder training

I have a huge heart for Men’s Ministry. As men we are called to be leaders. Leaders of our households, our local church, our communities, and so much more. I pray that through this ministry we can reach men stuck in the ways of the world who are looking for community, develop a vulnerable relationship with them, and lead them to know Jesus if they don’t already. God has done so much for me and my family over the last 5 years and He can do the same for you. With that I’ll share one of my favorite verses with you, Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, man sharpens man.” Like one of my favorite Men’s Ministry leaders, Jim Ramos, says “When a man wins, everybody wins.”

A walk with Christ!!

I have always been a believer in God and had accepted Jesus Christ into my life at an early age. I have been baptized in the past, however, I never really had a relationship with God. I got plugged back into church through a friend and Bruce, one of the pastors at my church. Bruce helped me find several men’s groups and I was eager to attend any group or opportunity for community. I love the community at my church.

I met Drew and James while attending one of the men’s groups that was recommended to me, a study of The 5 Masculine Instincts, and later was introduced to Joel in Authentic Manhood. I love these guys and they have become brothers to me. Eventually, I was baptized on the same day as James and we have done life together ever since. These brothers have had a positive influence in my spiritual journey, and I am very thankful that God brought them into my life.

Between Red is an opportunity to create a community that people can relate to with the celebrations and struggles of an everyday Christian. It is an opportunity to share God’s grace in my life and have a positive influence on one’s relationship with God.

In my life, God is first. I love God with all my heart and any time I can praise His name or bring glory to Him, I am there. I am loving my journey. Always remember, God is good all the time!!
